Viking - built by Salthouse Boatbuilders NZ

After more than a century of sailing, Viking was brought to Salthouse Boatbuilders in 2007 for an extensive refit. Two years later, after carefully recreating the original detail in her timber-work, Viking was ready for her re-launch and looked every bit the stunning lady she once was.
Her interior, deck and hull were stripped back to bare bones and methodically pieced back together. Coach roof, coamings, spars, and hatches were made to replicate the originals while the electronics, electrical system, and engine were also replaced.
A critical part of the refit was when the copper plating was removed from the hull. Fortunately the timber underneath was in remarkably good condition and needed very little work. A testament to the skill of the original builders, Bailey and Lowe.
